How long does it take to sell a house in a divorce?
The short answer
There's no set number. Time on the market depends on your town, and each area page shows Redfin's days on market for the three months ending June 2026. A divorce adds its own time on top: agreeing to sell and on a price, preparing a house one of you moved out of, and any court steps, like written consent under ORS 107.093.

Start with your market
Once a house is listed, how quickly it goes under contract depends mostly on where it is and how it's priced. I don't quote a timeline I can't back up. Your town is the baseline. What I can show you is the local number. Each town and county page under areas, from Eugene to Roseburg, shows Redfin's median days on market for the three months ending June 2026, next to the median price and the number of homes sold.
That's a median for all sellers in that town, not a promise for your house. It's still the best starting point we have. If your town isn't one of them, the nearest listed town is a fair first comparison, and I'll pull recent sales closer to your house when we price it.

What adds time
The part before the listing is where divorce sales slow down. Agreeing is the first piece. If papers have been served, ORS 107.093 means you'll need the other spouse's written consent or a court order, and your attorneys have to draft and sign it. Then you have to agree on the agent and the price, which we can't agree on the list price can speed up with a signed plan.
Prep is the second piece. A house one of you moved out of often needs belongings sorted, rooms emptied and repairs settled, including who pays. Court steps are the third. In Lane County, a motion for exclusive use of the home under SLR 8.042 requires service at least 21 days before the hearing, and that clock can't be rushed.

What keeps it moving
Decisions made in advance save the most time. A signed pricing plan, a written showing schedule and closing documents sent early to each of you all cut the waiting. Delays at the end often come from one missing signature on the deed, which is why I confirm each of you is ready before an offer is accepted. Use the checklist to see what you can get done this week. Small steps add up. If you both agree to start prep while the attorneys are still drafting the consent, the two tracks can run side by side, as long as nobody lists the house before the paperwork is signed.
